Lower American River Conservancy Program News

Join staff of WCB and members of the Lower American River Conservancy Program Advisory Committee on Thursday, November 30, 2023, for our fourth tour of the lower American River Parkway (Parkway). The goals of this tour are to educate participants on the current conditions of the Parkway and learn about potential and current community investment sites.

Members of the public are invited to participate. All participants are responsible for their own transportation, water, and lunch. Parking will be free at each location. Carpooling is encouraged. A couple sites include a short walk on a dirt trail. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and outdoor attire.

All are welcome to join. The meeting will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

On February 28, 2023, Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approved the Natural Resources Management Plan (NRMP) for the lower American River Parkway and adopted its Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR). Regional Parks will use the NRMP to prioritize, guide, manage, and monitor the Parkway’s natural resources. A 5-Year Work Plan was also developed and approved that outlines the most important NRMP actions and projects that Regional Parks and Parkway partners will advance in the coming years. You can find a copy of the Final NRMP, SEIR, and its 5-Year Work Plan on the County’s NRMP page.

In 2018, WCB’s Lower American River Conservancy Program provided funds to Regional Parks for the development and environmental review of the NRMP.
