The Wildlife Conservation Board’s 2021 Proposal Solicitation Notice (PSN) for the Lower American River Conservancy Program is now available. Proposals for implementation projects and land acquisitions that result in enduring benefits to the lower American River Parkway are encouraged. The primary focus is on projects that improve the quality of water that flows into and within the American River Parkway and projects that restore or enhance fish and wildlife habitat and other natural resources.

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., Pacific Daylight Time, on May 14, 2021. For questions, contact the Lower American River Conservancy Program at LARCP@wildlife.ca.gov.

The Wildlife Conservation Board is preparing to release the 2021 PSN for the Lower American River Conservancy Program (Program) on April 1. Now is the time to discuss your project ideas with WCB staff and to ask questions about the Program, priorities, and process. The project consultation period will be open through March 31. Visit the Program web page for more information and helpful resources that will help potential applicants navigate the Program and know what to expect for the 2021 PSN.

This year’s PSN will not include a pre-application. The consultation period is currently the best opportunity to ask questions and get feedback. We look forward to hearing from you!

Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks (Regional Parks) plans to release the Public Draft of the American River Parkway Natural Resources Management Plan (NRMP) on March 15, 2021 for a 60-day comment period. Four virtual open meetings will be held in March for the public to review and comment on the NRMP. Visit the County’s link opens in new windowNatural Resources Management page for more information.

In 2018, WCB’s Lower American River Conservancy Program provided funds to Regional Parks for the development and environmental review of the NRMP.

The Wildlife Conservation Board will host a virtual public workshop on March 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. for the Lower American River Conservancy Program’s 2021 Proposal Solicitation Notice. This workshop will provide an overview of the program, the competitive grant process for 2021, and tips for writing a competitive proposal. All are invited to participate via Microsoft Teams.

The Wildlife Conservation Board's California Riparian Habitat Conservation Program 2021 link opens in new windowCall for Concepts (PDF) is now available. This year’s priorities include projects located in southern California*, shovel-ready implementation projects, and projects that advance the California Biodiversity Initiative (link opens in new windowExecutive Order N-82-20 (PDF)). Secondary funding priorities include planning projects and projects located in central and northern California. All applicants must complete the online pre-application by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on March 31, 2021. WCB will then invite select applicants to submit full proposals. For questions regarding this Call for Concepts or the program, please contact program manager Cara Allen at Cara.Allen@wildlife.ca.gov.

*Southern California includes the following counties Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino.

WCB is looking for a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) to become part of the WCB management team and to supervise WCB staff that implement restoration and access programs including Stream Flow Enhancement, California Riparian Habitat Conservation, San Joaquin River Conservancy, Lower American River Conservancy, and Public Access.
