The Wildlife Conservation Board’s 2021 Proposal Solicitation Notice (PSN) for the Lower American River Conservancy Program is now available. Proposals for implementation projects and land acquisitions that result in enduring benefits to the lower American River Parkway are encouraged. The primary focus is on projects that improve the quality of water that flows into and within the American River Parkway and projects that restore or enhance fish and wildlife habitat and other natural resources.

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., Pacific Daylight Time, on May 14, 2021. For questions, contact the Lower American River Conservancy Program at LARCP@wildlife.ca.gov.

Now is the time to discuss your project ideas with WCB staff and to ask questions about the Program, priorities, and process. The project consultation period will be open through March 31. Visit the Program web page for more information and helpful resources that will help potential applicants navigate the Program and know what to expect for the 2021 PSN.

This year’s PSN will not include a pre-application. The consultation period is currently the best opportunity to ask questions and get feedback. We look forward to hearing from you!

The Wildlife Conservation Board approved expenditures of $33.97 million for 39 projects at its meeting on February 25, 2021.

Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks (Regional Parks) plans to release the Public Draft of the American River Parkway Natural Resources Management Plan (NRMP) on March 15, 2021 for a 60-day comment period. Four virtual open meetings will be held in March for the public to review and comment on the NRMP. Visit the County’s Natural Resources Management page for more information.

In 2018, WCB’s Lower American River Conservancy Program provided funds to Regional Parks for the development and environmental review of the NRMP.
